The Yorkshire Dales was designated a national park in 1954 and is one of only ten national parks in England. The Yorkshire Dales National Park covers 1,762 square kilometres (680 square miles) and is full of natural beauty and wildlife. The Yorkshire Dales is home to many rare species and has the largest area of nationally and internationally important habitats of any National Park.
